Xdrip Follower Setup

Since when doing my video, things have varied a bit. xDrip supports xDrip Sync and Nightscout for real-time monitoring. Dex Share, which tightened its access rules a few years ago, is considered low priority and isn't actively supported by xDrip developers. When xDrip Sync stopped working, it was quickly fixed due to widespread need, but alternatives exist if Dex Share fails, so developer focus remains elsewhere based on recent submissions.

1. First, we need to setup the Master mode in Sync Settings on your main phone

a. Go to settings

b. then xdrip+ sync settings

c. These are the Settings to select.

Make the Main primary data source Mobile master (enable checkbox):

2. Now go back to settings to display the security key QR code. So your Follower can scan it.

a. Go to Settings and scroll to the bottom to show settings QR codes on main mobile

b. And select xdrip plus security key settings only.

Leave the Main Mobile on this picture for the moment, so your follower can scan it from there mobile!

3. Now configure the follower’s Mobile handset  using its camera

a. Go to settings then b. hardware data source on Followers Mobile

 

c. and then select xdrip+ sync follower

d. Now select Configure and allow permissions. If asked too

e. Now slesct the Camera

f. and scan the others mobile bar code, with it

There is practically no limit in the amount of xDrip+ follower devices you can have.

In my own setup I have a mobile and a Tablet that share my levels beween each other from xdrip± using this setup!.

Manual setup If scan does not work

You can set up the follower yourself: Under Settings −> Hardware Data Source, select xDrip+ Sync Follower.

Then, go to Settings −> xDrip+ /Sync Settings and tap Handset Group Security Sync Key. Make sure the key matches by going to xDrip+ Sync Settings and tap Handset Group Security Sync Key on the one shown on the same page of the master phone.

Important Note - Follower having too much control:

By default, the follower can upload treatments, calibrate, and stop the sensor on the master. Disable Accept Follower Actions to restrict these permissions located in Settings / xDrip+ Sync Settings

This setting lets a parent control a child's main phone when the child is too young for tasks like calibration. If you handle calibration or sensor management and want to prevent accidental changes by a follower, turn off this option.
